KOMGO guide

Powdered
kombucha

What it is, how to make it and how it differs from the bottled kombucha you know.

Short answer Powdered kombucha is dried kombucha sold in sachets or sticks. You make it by mixing a sachet with cold water, and it needs no fridge. KOMGO is Korean powdered kombucha: each 5 g stick mixed with 250-300 ml of cold water makes, in under 30 seconds, a 15 kcal drink with 18 probiotic strains, no added sugar, alcohol-free and caffeine-free, in three Korean fruit flavours (yuja, omija and bokbunja). It keeps for up to 3 years.

What is kombucha?

Kombucha is a fermented drink that has been part of Asian culture for more than 2,000 years. It is made by fermenting sweetened tea with a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeasts known as the SCOBY. The result is a slightly tangy, refreshing drink with a light fizz.

In recent years it has become one of the most popular alternatives to soft drinks, as more and more people look for drinks with less sugar and a different taste.

What is powdered kombucha?

Traditional kombucha has a practical problem: it usually needs a fridge, it's heavy and it takes up space. Powdered kombucha solves that: it's kombucha in dry form that you reconstitute with water when you want to drink it.

Each KOMGO stick contains kombucha powder, black tea extract, Korean fruit extract and kombucha culture and 18 probiotic strains. It weighs 5 g, needs no fridge and fits in a pocket.

How to make powdered kombucha

  1. Open the stick
  2. Pour the powder into your glass
  3. Add 250-300 ml of cold water
  4. Stir well
  5. Add ice and enjoy

Leave some room in the glass: it fizzes when you mix the powder with water. Use 250 ml if you like it stronger, up to 300 ml if you prefer it lighter.

Total transparency. No small print.

Knowing what you consume is as important as enjoying it. So here is all the nutrition information for the three flavours, clear and simple.

Every stick also contains:

  • 18 probiotic strains.
  • Vitamins C, E, A and B complex.
  • Iron and folic acid.
  • Kombucha powder and black tea extract.

All three flavours share the same base: acid (citric acid), acidity regulator (sodium bicarbonate), kombucha powder, black tea extract, apple juice powder, sweeteners (erythritol and sucralose), vitamins and minerals and kombucha culture. On top of that, each flavour has its own fruit extract and flavouring.

Common
questions

What is KOMGO?

KOMGO is Korean powdered kombucha in stick format, with 18 probiotic strains. Mix a 5 g stick with cold water and in seconds you have a kombucha flavoured with Korean fruit: yuja (Korean lemon), omija (magnolia berries) or bokbunja (black raspberry). It needs no fridge and fits in any pocket.

How do you make KOMGO?

Open a stick, pour it into a glass, add 250 to 300 ml of cold or iced water and stir well. Leave a little room in the glass because it fizzes. It's ready in a few seconds.

How many probiotics does KOMGO have?

Each KOMGO stick is enriched with 18 carefully selected probiotic strains, including Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus plantarum, Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus rhamnosus. The full list of all 18 is in our powdered kombucha guide.

Does KOMGO contain sugar?

It has no added sugar. Each stick contains less than 1 g of sugars, which come from the fruit ingredients themselves. The sweetness comes from erythritol and sucralose.

Does it contain alcohol or caffeine?

No. KOMGO is alcohol-free and caffeine-free, so you can drink it at any time of day.

Does it need to be refrigerated?

No. As a powder it needs no refrigeration: just keep it in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. That's why you can carry it in your bag, backpack or suitcase.

Why might a sachet look slightly puffed?

That's normal. Kombucha powder contains a live culture and fermentation can slightly puff up some sachets. It is safe to drink.

What are the ingredients?

The base is kombucha powder, black tea extract, the Korean fruit extract of each flavour, apple juice powder, vitamins and minerals and kombucha culture (a mix of bacteria and yeasts), sweetened with erythritol and sucralose. The full list is on each flavour's page.
